Awkwafina
Awkwafina, an American actor and singer, began with humorous rap tracks which dealt with the subject of sexuality and race. The career of the singer and actress grew to Hollywood after she released a series of raps. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first music experience. She played the trumpet. Her classical, jazz and hip-hop studies began when she was just a teenager. Following a focus on education, she earned a degree in journalism in the college as well as a women's studies degree. Her focus shifted towards music after she graduated. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. Some other hits that went viral included queef track and the eye-catching NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. The track that was second on the album linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide that was published in 2015. This was a different idea. Her resume contained both an author and musician. Now she was looking to expand her career into acting. As well as early shows like Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in the movies Neighbors 2 Storks & Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land major roles in a variety of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. This June, she released her new EP "In Fina We Trust".
