Aunjanue Ellis
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, an American screen and stage actor best recognized for her roles in films for the movie Ray Undercover Brother and on the series on television The Mentalist. She holds a BA in African-American Studies from Brown University as well as an MFA in Acting from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Aunjanue is a film and theater actress, and she is also producer. Her first job was as an actor in theater before going on to appear in many television series, mainstream and independent films. The actress gained fame as Miranda Shaw on ABC's Quantico and appeared on BET's epic series The Book of Negroes for which she not only received an acclaim from critics, but also won many awards and nominations including the Television Critics Choice Award nomination for the Best Actress in a Film. The actress made her professional debut in the role of Ariel In The Tempest in 1995. Some stage credits are Come and Gone Drowning Crow and Seeking the Genesis, a Broadway production by Joe Turner. Her film career is remembered for films such as Men of Honor The Caveman's Valentine The Express, and The Help. Her role as a frequent character on ABC's drama detective series High Incident earned her praises.
